Specifically in Africa, many people suffer from living conditions that are becoming increasingly inhospitable. Less and less rain is causing the soil to dry out and, in some areas, become saline. Livestock is dying of thirst, agricultural use of large regions becomes impossible, and hunger, lack of work, and poverty drive people to flee.
In Europe, the climate catastrophe is often experienced as severe storms that cause enormous damage. The amounts of water that are too much for us are missing in Africa, as global warming causes additional evaporation of water, and the air thus absorbs more water, which is missing elsewhere.
In Europe, we fear the (climate) refugees, and so politics and the military want to secure or close our borders. However, despite all the dangers, people will continue to flee from the increasingly inhospitable areas to find a livelihood elsewhere and secure their future.
Therefore, it is in all of our interest, in the name of preserving global social and economic peace, to work together with the local people to restore their livelihoods and combat the root cause of this threatening development.
